Casa

We woke up bright and early Saturday morning after a fairly sleepless night. The city folks are not used to the sound of waves crashing all night long. It sounded like a huge storm was going on all around us, but was truly only a small breeze. How fun to wake up and not have to go turn up the heat and find the woolly socks!

The Casa we rented was really pretty special and we spent some time just getting acquainted with it. This is the front door from the inside. A futon was there for extra guests. The walls are made of stone that was all brought in and it was very well done. Gentry was so impressed with the craftsmanship, many of the walls were curved and as you can see the door and window openings were curved. The ceiling/roof is the traditional woven reeds, with the palm frond on the outside covered in a sailors net of some sort (palapa). There were many fun and unusual things hanging from the rafters....including a couple of puffer fish.

The ship is called the Roberto and that is the name of the caretaker. The mask on the shelf is a funny one. I wish I knew the story behind it.

There was the good old fashioned style dishwasher.....and everything is solar, and gas.

So...Saturday morning....whats for breakfast? Surely you must know! The better butter made a better batter and so I made a better biscuit with a special (pink) choriso gravy. It tasted quite good, though the color was pretty interesting. Please note the tile mural on the island.

Doors to back patio. They are hinged in the middle and lock at the top, middle and bottom, with big wide screen doors. The floors were all tile.

The back porch leads to a flight of stairs down to the beach, we were so close we could taste the saltwater in the air.

The back deck has a very handy shower corner for washing off feet. I want one of these! Kept the house much cleaner.

Just step outside at any time to check on the kids.

And from the beach.... we enjoyed our time here very much!

And if you want more pictures of the place please check out the rest.

Thanks for the pictures. What a neat place. It is unique with a lot of character and a great location on the beach. I can see something like that up on the VR...but doubt the roof would hold up! I really liked the picture of Victoria with the large sunglasses and touselled hair. She is growing up so fast! That beach scene would look pretty good here this morning. It is 1 degree with a -5 degree chill factor!

Wow....such a neat dwelling...and it's beachfront location would've been particularly enjoyable!

Looks like you made some good choices for your Mexican vacation. Thanks for doing what you did! I hope everyone has some pleasant memories. I have always hoped we could have an international vacation together, and we did!
